Psalms 51:1-19 "Prayer of Confession"

This prayer of confession and repentance is such a powerful prayer in that when we see our sin, no matter what it is, as an affront to God, we too will reach out to God with words like David.  We might not be guilty of murder or adultery like David, but our sin is just as offensive to God as his was.  Each of us must come to God pleading for mercy, not justice, taking full responsibility for our sin.  David wanted forgiveness, to be cleansed from his sin and have a pure heart.  Note also when we confess our sins, plead for God's grace and mercy, we will have joy in our life which no one can take away.  We all need to pray like David did for we all have sinned and come short of the glory of our God.
